Falling Debris: Mind Your Head

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
I don't know if I should be wearing a helmet while walking beneath those giant ads hang from buildings or the buildings themselves that are old enough and are in state of disrepair.

Recent incidents of debris falling from buildings makes everyone become more cautious especially if we live within an old neighborhood. In one instance a falling debris caused damage in a taxicab. Worse, a more recent incident claimed the life of an unsuspecting middle-aged woman in Wan Chai.

Hong Kong has many signs showing "mind your head" in apparent reference to the low ceiling heights and dangerous passages. Now, the meaning of this warning becomes more useful for people who pass through billboards and buildings that are in dire need of repair.
