It's raining and flooding men

Hong Kong experienced severe flooding today. The black rainstorm warning was issued before 7am as I was just preparing my breakfast. Thunder and lightning continued to pound the territory in the morning and as I headed to the laundry shop, I wished I brought in a bigger umbrella to cope with the heavy downpour.

It's been raining since I returned back from vacation last Tuesday. Tonight, ATV News reports that 150 flights were delayed and six were canceled because of this weather disturbance. Bus services to the airport were suspended due to impassable roads and people have reduced choice of transport between MTR and Airport Express.

And more than just a heavy downpour I saw in my neighborhood, there were severe flooding elsewhere. A video shows elderly couple wading through the knee-deep waters somewhere in Wan Chai. Another one shows Garden Road (where The Peak Tram terminus and St Joseph church are located) became a virtual downstream river. Flooding in other areas are even worse because water levels have risen above five feet, according to a reporter. There were houses in Pokfulam area shown with damaged PCs and living room furniture. A bursting drainage caused a "geyser" to show up somewhere in Smithfield in Sai Wan.

As Hong Kong celebrates Dragon Boat festival soon, weather will play a huge role in its success. For tourists who were caught with nothing to do, alternative activities will definitely ease the boredom and regret of coming to Hong Kong in such inclement weather condition.
